Isadore Frenkiel
Isadore Frenkiel was unfortunately one of the many Jews that lived in the area that was sent to the Chelmno extermination camp. Between the years of 1933-1939, Frenkiel and his business had suffered a little bit from the Great Depression. He wasn't hit too bad because he still was able to support his family. A little bit after the invasion of Poland, the Germans occupied the town next to Frenkiel's. Apparently, the Germans were shot at, taken away, and were rounded up and gassed in the marketplace.
Starting in 1940 to 1942, there were more and more rumors saying the Germans will deport all the Jews to extermination camps. The rumors were saying that they throw you into this van and then gas you. Then after the gassing you get thrown into burning pits. When they tried telling the Jewish elders of the town, they did not believe him or his cousin and told them to leave.
May 1942, the town of Gabin's Jews were deported to the Chelmno extermination camp. Frenkiel and some of his family were placed in a enclosed van and then it filled up with gas (Chelmno United).
